Playa Colonia or Playa Chamán
Playa Colonia or Playa Chamán, Costa Rica is 4 km South from Uvita. A very popular beach due to its calm waters, with moderated surf and almost no dangerous rip currents. You can also find a camping ground with all necessary services.
Colonia Beach is also known as Chamán Beach, and it is located within the Marino Ballena National Park. New surfers will be delighted with the sandy bottom and smooth breaking waves. It never gets too busy; therefore, advanced surfers don’t have to worry about the amateurs.
The Marino Ballena National Park is located in Costa Ballena and belongs to the Osa Conservation Area. It extends from the Morete river mouth to Punta Piñuela. It was declared National Marine Park in 1989, and its limits extended in 1992. It has a land area of 284 acres and 13,276 acres of sea.

Camping is allowed at this beach of the Marino Ballena National Park, there are showers available for after swimming and the beautiful mountain views from the beach make for a breathtaking backdrop.
