Making a Difference

Maybe you bought a book from the DAWG (Domestic Animal Welfare Group) Tales Lending Library, donated money, or picked up an animal and brought it to us. Maybe you passed by the veterinarian’s office Saturday and saw a bunch of rescued animals in cages. But do you know what goes on behind the scenes? We’d like you to understand.

Our volunteers work collectively more than twelve thousand hours and drive twenty thousand kilometers a year rescuing and rehabilitating animals.

Their only compensation is the satisfaction of seeing an animal that was near death wag its tail or purr for the first time in its life. They foster animals in their own homes, and they go to the vet’s office to clean cages, bathe, and exercise rescues because we do not have enough foster homes.

DAWG Volunteers

They make house calls to triage ill animals, administer vaccinations, and rescue animals in distress. They take care of the rescues every Saturday, adoption day, and work tirelessly to educate people, publicize their work, and try to find good homes for the orphans. They track all treatments and make follow-up calls. They maintain the library and raise funds. They suffer for the animals and sometimes, tragically, they watch them die.

DAWG has rescued 687 animals and spayed/neutered 1,185.

We recognize that many organizations compete for your time and money. Ninety-six percent of DAWG donations go directly to the care of animals. Please, choose to support us.

Your support will make a difference! Thank you!
