Apart from an excellent workout, Zumba is fun. Grooving to the beats of salsa, flamenco, and merengue music feels more like a dance party than exercise. It is not necessary to be a great dancer to feel welcome in a Zumba class. You’ll get a great cardio workout that melts fat, strengthens your core, and improves flexibility.
Sandy Segal, a fitness trainer from Cobourg, Ontario, returned to her beloved Ojochal sharing her passion for dancing with the neighbors of the little town. Taking elements from Zumba and Arriba, she motivated her group of dancers to move to the sound and vibrate with joy.
“Zumba helped me to quit smoking 4 ½ years ago, and now I am leading a very active life again,” she told us. “Unfortunately my 14 ½ year old dog Freud died only a few weeks ago. My heart is still hurting.” When the opportunity arose to contribute to DAWG (Domestical Animal Welfare Group), she and her dancers agreed in unison: We are supporting this great initiative. So at the end of the course, donations rained into a specially prepared box.
Sud in Ojochal provided space in their Restaurant and Lounge. This is where these contributions were delivered to a very surprised Shawnell Parker during dinner party get together, who up to the moment didn ́t know what the meeting was about.
“I am very much impressed by the generosity of the group. These funds are highly appreciated to take care of our orphaned dogs and cats,” the DAWG president said. Sandy, who was married to her husband John Miller in Montezuma, had been looking for a home in Costa Rica for the last 15 years. Finally they were very much attracted by the town of Ojochal where people are so friendly and always wave at everyone. “We will be back in November that is a promise”.
