Why Yoga & Surfing?
Yoga & Surfing retreats are becoming very popular in this country and around the world. For those who wonder why that is happening, here you have a brief explanation: Yoga has a meaning that is difficult to explain, so, it is better to practice it. Many people say that the word means “union,” but I like to say it means “a path,” another way to establish a connection with your inner peace and to be aware and focus.
The physical aspect of yoga comes from the idea that by constantly building a strong, flexible, and energetic body, we can create a stronger and focused mind, and keep a compassionate heart. As we progress in the practice, we challenge our physical limits, and we start realizing the great amount of strength and ability we have, believing that nothing is impossible, unless we believe the opposite.
Surfing brings a powerful connection as well, and its components support a good yoga practice; furthermore, it could be your own path. When you are surfing, the first connection is to the most powerful source of life: Mother Ocean, and in order to move through the waves you have to learn to dance with her and find the balance between being brave and being respectful; you practice wisdom and humbleness at the same time. Your mind must be present at that moment; otherwise, you will miss the opportunity. The part I like the most is that once you catch the wave; you have to let go and FLOW, and let this great source of life take you wherever you have to go.
