Eden Adventure Hostel and Community Center is a new project located in the old Badilla Cancha synthetica soccer field in Bahia Uvita. Mr Badilla built for the community in 2013, but it was closed down last year. The new tenants Kelvin Vasquez and Doug Davis hope that the latest use of the facility will have a real impact on the community and honor the original intention of the founder.
They believe the opportunity for parents and children to play in a parklike space that is protected from rain and sun will be popular, especially during the green season. It is a place where parents can socialize and meet new people or use high speed internet for various projects whether it is for school or work. The center will also provide an opportunity for children and adults to attend classes such as english, spanish, technology, permaculture, cooking, survival, sports and other subjects the community desires. By offering affordable healthy drinks and snacks as well as a space for kids and parents to run and play will hopefully be a blessing to the lives of parents and the entire community.
The community center will also be launching affordable sports leagues like softball, dodge ball, basketball and volleyball for both children and adults depending on demand. They are now taking signups for players, coaches and referees. All participants will have the ability to either pay a small cost to play, or have an opportunity to create or take part in a community service projects for credit towards one of the sports teams and classes eden offers.
Kelvin and Doug said: “Our primary vision is to provide facilities that assist community projects, nonprofits, and the general wellbeing of the community as a whole by encouraging community involvement centered on playful education, cultural exchange and cooperation between people and companies.”
