Film by filmmaker Gustavo Corrales presented at the Cristal Ballena Hotel.
“The spheres are perfectly round, mysterious and have their abode in the South Pacific of Costa Rica. The spheres are a pre-Columbian Indian heritage that arouses passions, tall tales and even monumental astronomical conjectures.”
Knowing that cultural wealth, the Costa Rican filmmaker Gustavo Corrales was on the lookout for such stories, and captured them in a documentary called The Spheres (2011), drawing on the folk beliefs that have been woven around them.
“I questioned how many people have no idea of the magnitude and importance of these spheres,” added Corrales.
Palmar Sur is an archaeological site in the Diquís Delta. Excavations were focused on “Finca 6”, which dates back to the Aguas Buenas Period (300-800 AD) and the Chiriquí Period (800-1550 AD).
For 10 years, the National Museum, headed by Mr. Francisco Corrales, has been working on the creation of the Park of the Spheres: an archaeological museum dedicated to these enigmatic pre-Columbian objects and the indigenous groups who made them.
