Physical, emotional and mental stress causes a lot of anxiety and chronic pain, including fibromyalgia, for many people. While treatments like chiropractic and massage help removing interference from the nervous system and decrease stress through physical touch, energy healing techniques such as Reiki are more like a massage of the mind.
Developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist, Mikao Usui, the word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “Universal Life” and Ki which means “Energy”.
Reiki practitioners use a light touch or no touch approach, along with aromatherapy and sound therapy to detect and clear emotional blockages. By quieting the mind, this helps the client find their “reset” button and calm the constant chatter and background noise that doesn’t seem to turn off as it should. If the mind is not at rest, healing is more difficult to occur.
Reiki treats the whole person including body, mind, emotions and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. While, Reiki should not be used as a replacement for conventional treatments, it works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects, promote recovery and stimulate the healing process.
Dual Reiki allows you to receive Reiki treatments from two experienced Reiki Masters at once. By increasing the number of practitioners, it is like adding more batteries to the charge, increasing the strength of the energy that is allowed to flow through. Not only does this divide the time needed for optimum results, but also multiplies the benefits received. The healing capacity of Reiki is limitless.
So, whether you are suffering from anxiety, a chronic condition or going through a major life change, Reiki may be just what you need to overcome physical, emotional or mental stress. Carrie Chmielewicz is a Doctor of Chiropractic and Reiki Master in Ojochal.
