Palmex: A Durable, Low Maintenance and Eco-Responsible Roof Solution

Palmex: A Durable, Low Maintenance and Eco-Responsible Roof Solution Palmex: techo duradero, de bajo mantenimiento y eco-responsable

Based in the Southern Zone and operating since 2007, Techos Tropicales Palmex is the exclusive distributor of the Palmex synthetic roofing leaves in Costa Rica. With a crew of only 7 persons located in a small village, they succeeded by acquiring clients, many of them famous eco lodges of the country; Tabacon Thermal Resort, Luna Lodge, Lapa Rios Lodge and more. Government institutions like the INA (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje), historic and cultural sites (Guayabo and the Gold and Children’s Museums) and hundreds of beautiful hotels, restaurants and houses are also their satisfied customers. What’s the key to that success? Lots of dedication, a very good team and a fantastic product. Made in Canada and installed on roofs in over 50 countries on 5 continents, Palmex produces a realistic-looking, eco-responsible, low maintenance and long-term thatch solution, respecting the beauty of traditional palm leaf roofing. Its leaves are free of any toxic substances, designed according to ISO 9001-2008 norms. They undergo a
special anti-UV treatment which translates into great energy savings on air conditioning and ventilation.

Palmex product’s lifespan is estimated at 50 years or more. Should the circumstances require it, Palmex leaves can be dismantled and re-used. They are totally recyclable. For questions of duration and warranty (20 years), they are not made only of recycled plastics, they are, as a polypropylene material, a recycling product of the residues generated by the transformation of raw petroleum into fuel. This is why they have been granted the most important eco-building international and national certifications like Intertek, CSTB, ISO 9001, Bodycote, etc. PALMEX products provide a permanent solution to the problematic issue of the massive over-harvesting of  natural resources throughout the planet for the purpose of building exotic roofing by minimizing the negative effects that economic
growth and touristic development can have on the natural environment.
