Playa Piñuela is part of Costa Rica Beaches and is located at km 172 on the Costanera, which is at the south end of Marino Marino Ballena National Park. Playa Piñuela is about 1,300 meters long, with a small river and rocks at the south end of the beach to explore.
Usually, it is a quiet beach with small boats of local fishermen and an exuberant green forest background. It is a safe beach for swimming. However, beware of the rocks, which at high tide are completely covered by water, but perfectly visible with the outgoing tide.
The view of the rock formation called “Three Sisters” and Isla Ballena is an enticing experience. The beach took its name from a plant member in the Bromelia family called Piñuela that grows in the bordering forest.
Camping is allowed at this beach of the Marino Ballena National Park, there are showers available for after swimming and the beautiful mountain views from the beach make for a breathtaking backdrop.
