OSA VIVE, DEFENDING THE ENVIRONMENT!
Author: OSA VIVE TEAM
Osa Vive (OV) is an organization defending the environment, founded in 2018 to prevent illegal development and strives to ensure ecologically responsible development. We observe our rainforest, wildlife, rivers, reefs, and mangroves´ quick destruction. We can stop environmental damage, and we need you!
Chopping trees, then burning and bulldozing the waste into the rivers of Ojochal was a standard protocol for some developers. Laws and legal rulings were ignored and did nothing to deter them. In summer 2019, one particular fire lasted over a week, and the skies, even in Uvita, were grey for days without end. At this time, and despite extreme harassment and threats, Osa Vive filed lawsuits against the developers of these actions and the government agencies that turned a blind eye.
The company is still developing that large plot of land, but their rapacity will be legally and morally stopped.
Legal issues and the memorable year 2021 delayed our plans, but now we’re moving forward legally as Osa Vive. Today, we focus on Ojochal; next, we help face the problems of the entire Costa Ballena. By winning our case, we are setting an example for other businesses and individuals to work in a responsible manner with a minimum ecological impact”.
Our purpose is “Promote legal, responsible, and sustainable growth while monitoring illegal environmental destruction”.
Growth is natural, and it should happen by abiding by the laws that protect the environment.

You’ve heard about the problem and we need your help. Here is how you can support us: Volunteer. Bring your fresh ideas to us. Join OV. Commit to attending or zooming in on our meetings. Distribute information to our website or FB page. spread the word. Submit articles. Monitor. Report illegal activities. Please send photos and information to us.
Soon, our website will have exact instructions on what to do for each infraction. FUNDRAISING AND DONATIONS. We are a non-profit organization with tax write-offs. Plan a fundraiser. Donate online. Network. Directory. Suggest or add businesses that have ecologically evolved. Partner with us. Unite Non-Profit Organizations.
Thankfully, Osa Vive’s attorney Mr. Edgardo Araya is one of the best environmental lawyers internationally. He is ready to take on other cases in the Pacific coastal areas.
Connect and relate your experiences with a like-minded community on our anonymous public forum on the website. We are already working with Coral Reefs Costa Rica, Innoceania, Reserva Playa Tortuga, and ASANA, who have coinciding purposes. If you belong to one of these groups, attend our meetings to see how we can combine efforts. Should you know of another organization with similar goals, let us know. Share your contacts with local and international media.
We need to get the word out. Fluent Spanish speakers are needed to help with follow-up in the legal processes and the government agencies.
TOGETHER, let’s protect our precious jewel, the Costa Ballena, and its rainforest, rivers, mangroves, reefs, and wildlife. WE can stop the destruction with your help, and would really like to talk to you!
