Humpback whales are migratory mammals and reproduce and nurse their young in the warm tropical waters of Costa Ballena and the South Pacific of Costa Rica while feeding at high latitudes.

In Costa Ballena, we are lucky to receive two annual migrations. The Northern humpback whales visit the South Pacific from December to March and the humpback migration from the Southern hemisphere begins in July and ends in October.
