Kakü means hospitality in Cabécar language (Kabekwa)

The Cabécares are a Costa Rican autochthonous ethnic group.

They are one of the most culturally diverse societies in Costa Rica because they still practice most of their traditional daily activities; for example, natural medicine, dances, hunting, fishing, their own religion, and native language. After the Bribris, the Cabécares are the second largest ethnic group in our country.

The Cabécares moved around all over the Talamanca range to visit other tribes or participate in harvesting activities, and they were used to sheltering travelers who arrived in their villages. This cordial relationship is what symbolizes the meaning of kakü for the Cabécar culture.

The pleasure of savoring great food is something that tourists appreciate during their trips, and this is an opportunity to taste local flavors from the world of international cuisine.

In Uvita, considered the capital of Costa Ballena, and inspired by the tradition of hospitality, Restaurante & Bar Kakü welcomes all locals and travelers who visit this paradisiacal region. Everyone can enjoy a variety of seafood-based dishes, together with fresh vegetables and legumes; many of them are organic.

Located near the Pacific coast, this restaurant offers a menu that includes delicious lobster, shrimp, octopus, fish, ceviche, as well as red meat and vegetarian dishes.

Kakü has other popular options like Aztec soup, nachos with guacamole, sandwiches, and salads. Besides, there are daily specials and a great selection of wines from the best reserves; they certainly tempt wine connoisseurs.
