The Greatest Showman Reimagined, Like a Real Circus!
The Greatest Showman on Earth was rewritten and directed by Rene Caudillo to inspire others to shine their lights to see a brighter world.
You felt the exhilarating ambiance sparkling with emotion in the amazingly decorated salon like a circus tent. And when the curtains opened, young Phineas Barnum (by Uria Lavi) is making friends with little Charity (Vivi Grafos), the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Here begins a long-lasting friendship between the two kids from different societies. Later on, and against Charity´s (Carrie Taylor) parents (Tom Palmer and Maria Waters), they get married and very soon have children. Phineas opens a not very successful oddity museum. Looking for a more profitable venture, unusual people inspire him, and he wants to feature them.

There is the tiniest man in the world (Uria Lavi), a bearded lady ashamed of going public (Tiffany Fenton), trapeze artists, and other unusual-looking folks like a three-legged lady (Bella Fenton), a person half man & half woman (Nicole Gayatri) or a beautiful nymph (Stacey Park) with long ears, and a sword swallower (Nate Bright) whom Phineas is convinced will be the attraction of the public. Costumes and make-up are all, and they present the first circus show. It is a huge success, though heavily critiqued by a hateful reporter, and even some women are revolting in the streets.
The public loves it; Barnum (Richard Ginzel) earns a lot of money but can´t get enough, always looking for his parents-in-law´s approval. With a new exceptional singer onboard (Robin Boudreau Palmer), he hopes to gain more fame and acceptance, but when she falls in love with him, he decides for his family.
Sunshine (Meredith) was the link between one and the next act animating and involving the public.

A spectator to Rene after the play: “I cried, I laughed, I danced, I clapped, I whistled, my emotions were all over the place! I was so moved, I literally can’t put it into words; I felt different, I felt alive! YOU made IT happen. Quietly, gliding around making sure everything pulled together!!
“Unsung hero” comes to mind to describe what you did. All of your blood, sweat and tears were appreciated 10-fold.
Richard singing: I was flabbergasted!! Whether it was a sweet, soft angelic voice or belting out notes that shook the building; I was star struck. The Greatest Showman was a huge success! OMG!!
The cast was utterly fantastic!! What a strong, beautiful, powerful team!” 41 people working together as a big family, six months of preparation and two weeks building the stage and the backdrop, lighting, and sound.

You must have met some of the people mentioned and acting in The Greatest Showman, perhaps they are your next-door neighbors, your kids go to the same school, or you have seen them at the Farmer´s Market. Very few of them had previous experience in acting or singing. They overcame their deepest fears and expressed their souls in front of the mesmerized public. Bravo!
JUNGLEEARTS – Inspirational Art and Community Center
Rene and Richard are just starting their mission to bring art to Costa Ballena. The great project is to create a beautiful community center for kids and grown-ups. A place to build confidence, take acting classes, participate in workshops, or watch another fantastic play. Your input, both young and adult is essential:

The mangrove forest and its massive maze and the intertwining of trees and roots is considered to be a critical component acting to subdue tidal surge, reduce erosion, provide opportunities for recreation and serve as nurseries for fisheries.

Back to the Earth
In each magazine edition, writers often relate to a topic relevant to the particular timing of the publication. Unfortunately, we are all writing with heavy hearts about the loss of Dagmar in this issue. Her vibrant personality and dedication to this magazine will surely be missed.

An unforgettable Tour to Caño Island
I had the opportunity to take a Caño Island tour. Since I was a little kid, I have loved swimming in the ocean and looking out for all the sea creatures.

The Bees – a Beautiful Example
In Costa Rica, we have over 50 species of bees. From the Apis melifera (an introduced species), to many others that have co-evolved with native plants.

Path of the Tapir Biological Corridor
Birth of the environmental movement in Costa Ballena.
At the beginning of the last century, tapirs, jaguars, white-lipped peccary, red brocket deer, harpy eagles, giant anteaters, and others wandered freely through the forests in the area that today is known as the Costa Ballena and the Path of the Tapir Biological Corridor.
