Finding a Common Ground

Finding a common ground #Bodhi-Surf team_0211 #ballenatales #yoga

I love the humbleness and kindness in the eyes of the family I buy my fresh veggies from. It’s the same feeling I perceive when I spend time with my childhood friend from Ballena, or my daughter’s schoolteacher.

While they have different backgrounds, beliefs, skills, social status, etc. – when I share time with them, they leave me with an identical feeling of humility and kindness.

We have the tendency to label, generalize, judge, and set expectations for one another. We establish our connections according to where people come from, what they believe, how they look, or what they possess. Sadly, this tendency has caused unnecessary pain and suffering throughout human history.

The world is changing; we share the planet with a wide variety of ethnicities, languages, and beliefs. I am proud to live in a community of many different shapes and colors. On the surface, we look and act
differently, but underneath; you can find that we all share things in common. More than anything, we all want to love and be loved.

If we keep our hearts opened, we realize that kindness is everywhere. So
perhaps, instead of judging what we don’t understand, we could pay attention to what we have in common and develop our relationships directly from the heart.

In Yoga, we use the word NAMASTE to greet each other. It means “My soul
recognizes your soul and honors the light, love, kindness, truth, and beauty in you because they are also within me.”

So, Namaste everyone!
