The Development Association of Uvita inaugurated a beautiful children's playground next to the Bahía Community Center. It was built with the support of the Municipality of Osa and PANI (National Children's Trust). Numerous parents with their children attended the event and witnessed the cutting of the ribbon. In her words, the representative of the Pani emphasized that it is important not to lose sight of children at any time!
Proud of initiatives such as being promoters of the "Bahía Plastic free" movement among others, the ADI foresees projects such as the construction of a small outdoor gym so that the big ones can strengthen their muscles while the children are on the playground, the renovation of the roof and repair of the floor of the Salon communal and a better illumination of the park.
Currently the Salon in Bahia is the headquarters of El Mercado that is held every Wednesday. It has become a lively meeting point for vendors of fresh food, handicrafts, sustainable products and the neighbors of the community. The live music that changes weekly brings much happiness. With regard to the Uvita Community Center, a complete remodeling with a group of volunteers from Rustic Pathways and funds contributed by the Rural Development Institute is planned, as well as the construction of an amphitheater and a track for skaters. It is supposed to be a free of violence Youth Center or a “Listening House,” where adolescents can share their conflicts and feel welcome to receive courses or spend their free time in a friendly environment.
Another update is that the Association is now receiving financial support from the Somos Foundation for community projects. A prerequisite for this was that a member of the Board of Directors of ADI will work full time carrying out such projects.
