The Costa Rican surfer Carlos Muñoz offered a great lesson in humility and demonstrated that where there is a will there is a way.’
In Osa, we are very proud of Carlos’ participation at the Hurley Pro which took place in September, where he was able to move to the second round and face the world’s best surfers. This young man from Esterillos showed the world that we have excellent surfers in Costa Rica.
Thanks to his good performance, he was able to overcome Gabriel Medina, a highly qualified surfer, whom he had to face again in the second round.
Unfortunately the Costa Rican could not continue to the end of the competition.
What we are proud of is the humbleness and professionalism shown by “Cali,” when he was interviewed by the best ASP Surf (Association of Surfing Professionals) commentators, and his words were:
“I have nothing to lose; I came to enjoy surfing, and I hope my enthusiastic surfing brings enjoyment to all the people helping me to come to this competition!”
Thanks you Carlos for the joy, for representing our country, and most important, for showing us how perseverance and dedication create mastery.
