Editor in Chief
Editor and owner of Ballena Tales Magazine, Dagmar Reinhard, is a graduated foreign correspondent and has lived for most of her life in Latin America. Since 2007, she has been living in Uvita, Costa Ballena, where she started Ballena Tales Magazine. She speaks four languages and loves to interview people and to promote Costa Ballena to full color.
Has been Graphic Designer and Art Director for over 20 years. He applies all his expertise to represent the image of our area and its people, which is reflected in the excellent design of Ballena Tales Magazine. He has also been a percussionist for 35 years, is writing a book on botany and is a dedicated practitioner of Buddhist philosophy.
Matt has traveled through many countries in Latin America growing up but spent most of his life in Florida. After studying Computer Engineering in Orlando, he returned to South Florida and worked for several companies for years in the IT field as a web developer, network administrator, programmer, and in marketing. He had been visiting Costa Rica for over 8 years but moved down to this beautiful country permanently 3 years ago.
Elena Vargas Fonseca
From Costa Rica
Is a biologist by profession with emphasis on natural resources management. She is the Research Coordinator at the Playa Tortuga Reserve in Osa, where she is responsible for the Environmental Education Program. She writes on articles on wildlife in Costa Ballena for Ballena Tales Magazine. She recently returned from Australia, where she organized an academical field course for the Wildlands Studies Organization.
Fernando Riera Silesky
From Costa Rica
Has been a veterinarian doctor for 10 years, serving in Costa Ballena for the last 6 years. He writes regular articles for Ballena Tales Magazine on Animal Health. He is 37 years old and single. He works with organizations that assist animals and is actively involved in environmental conservation. His hobbies are mountain biking and soccer.
Is a freelance author and educator. He is noted for his excellent articles on the surf, published in Ballena Tales Magazine. He offers research and ghostwriting services to bloggers and web designers and is the author and creator of the popular travel website www.Myamericanodyssey.com
From Costa Rica
Has been living in Costa Ballena area for nearly five years. She is a devoted yoga practitioner and instructor. With her husband and two other partners, she runs a family micro-enterprise named Bodhi Surf School that focuses on Surf and Yoga retreats and sustainable tourism. She worked with a local NGO in the conservation field, protecting the Biological Corridor "The Path of the Tapir", located between Savegre and Terraba area. Pilar writes inspiring articles for Ballena Tales Magazine about Yoga in everyday´s life.
Is a long time- resident of Costa Rica, and has ridden his Harley Davidson on every hard road in the country, and lots of dirt roads where he should not have been. Even Ticos call him for directions. Apart from writing articles on Costa Rican life for Ballena Tales Magazine, he and his family currently publish Crazu.Net, which chronicles those times and travels.
Susana García Blanco
Is a biologist specializing in marine zoology. Her articles interpret the nature surrounding us. She is the owner of the Five Senses Rural Club in Bahía - Uvita and Project Manager of the Institute of Tropical Biodiversity (IBT - Costa Rica).
Spanish Proof Reader
Worked in her home country for the financial sector. She moved to the US with her husband Bill, where she worked for the County of San Diego. Seven years ago, they moved to Costa Rica. Yolanda is a free-lance translator and the proofreader of Ballena Tales Magazine.
