Advantages of Advertising with Us?
Advertise with Ballena Tales - Our magazine goes beyond traditional print publications!
- In 2008, Dagmar Reinhard established BALLENA TALES MAGAZINE after falling in love with the Costa Ballena area in the South Pacific of Costa Rica, just like many of us down here. Our editorial priority is to satisfy our readers by publishing attractive content while highlighting the value of our advertisers' brands. We also collaborate freely with positive local initiatives and environmental organizations.
- Our magazine goes beyond traditional print publications. Each edition, whether in print or digital, is part of a robust digital ecosystem. The editions are accessible online, the advertorials are featured on our blog, and the brands are listed on our website commercial directory. Advertisers' ads also include links to their company websites and social media profiles.
- We have a dedicated audience of over 8,000 readers in the Costa Ballena region of the South Pacific who will see your product featured in each printed edition. According to a study conducted in hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, offices, rental houses, supermarkets, and other locations in previous years, the average readership was 2.3 local readers and 18 visitors per copy, totaling approximately 142,000 readings. This result corresponds to the printing of seven thousand copies per year.
- This achievement is partly thanks to a team of assiduous writers who enable us to provide an endless number of search words to reach our website, thus supporting our satisfied advertisers.
- The magazine, available in digital and printed formats, highlights the local community and provides information on restaurants, hotels, services, experiences, natural attractions, and wildlife. It also includes interviews with pioneers, writers, and artists from the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica.
- It is a free magazine in Costa Rica for travelers, residents, and investors. The digital magazine is bilingual and in full color, featuring Spanish and English. Additionally, a semiannual printed English version is published.
THE MAGAZINE ONLINE
Our magazine editorial team publishes a new digital edition every three months. This edition is then shared on our website and social networks, giving maximum exposure to our advertisers' offers. Our advertisers can also insert videos and sponsored articles about their products in ads.
We regularly support our clients with mass mail campaigns that highlight their content. We have almost 2000 national and international subscribers and cover uplifting topics on the history of the South Pacific of Costa Rica. Our content includes information about the area's people, flora and fauna, beaches, mountains, and environmental conservation initiatives. Infomercials highlight advertisers' services and are a successful tool to motivate the consumer.
Our online magazine publishes content in both Spanish and English, catering to a vast global audience. We have tens of thousands of US and European openings, focusing on Germany and France. A WOODEN CARGO SHIP, STEAMING HOT UNDER A TROPICAL SUN
Ceiba has been under steady construction ever since her keel was laid on January 8th, 2019. A wooden cargo ship, square-rigged, powered by the wind and a back-up electric engine, her three masts will propel ethically-sourced cargo from her homeport in Costa Rica via Hawai’i islands as far north as Alaska before returning southbound via Canada, the mainland USA, and Mexico.

The Neotropical Rattlesnakes – Jingle bells of the Snake World
Neotropical Rattlesnakes, does this word ring a bell to you? I think everyone has heard of them or seen them on television, stealing the show in cowboy movies or nature documentaries. Famous for their rattling tail tip, actually modified scales, being a series of hollow interlocking segments made out of keratin (the same substance as your fingernails.)

Sierpe Mangrove Boat Tour Costa Rica
The mangrove boat tour with “Kokopelli Mangrove Tours” was amazing and pretty exciting. I was able to see so many animals that I have never seen before in real life. I would highly recommend enjoying this tour if you are interested in the wildlife of Costa Rica and want to learn more about mangroves.

Maintenance outdoors, Do it Yourself
The dry season is here! The best time to perform maintenance outdoors. We have just faced one of the strongest rainy seasons in recent years. We can observe a more significant deterioration in our buildings and mainly in outdoor areas that were spaces exposed to inclement weather.

SimbiOsa Restaurant, surprising and creative dishes
SimbiOsa Restaurant delivers surprising and creative dishes crafted from high-quality ingredients focusing on fusion and a philosophy of integrity.
Some dishes have an Indian influence, while others are down-home comfort food, made with a Tico twist and magic element.
YOU’VE GOT TO BE TOUGH TO BE AN AGOUTI
When you’re walking through the rainforest and surprise an animal that goes bouncing through the undergrowth emitting panicked, bark-like grunts with every bounce, you’ve certainly startled a Central American Agouti (Dasysyprocta punctata). After 20 years of living here, I finally saw one standing still. Once the hunting was under control on Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge, their fear of humans diminished considerably.
“Entangled in Costa Rica” A Documentary about whales rescue 2021
It is not unusual for residents on the South Pacific side of Costa Rica to witness humpback whales swimming along the coast with their newborn calves during migratory whale seasons. For anyone, being able to rescue a female whale and her calf’s life is a once in a lifetime encounter. Innoceana, in association with filmmakers The Vegan Pirates, produced a short documentary “Entangled in Costa Rica.”
Veganism is on the rise – and it is far more than a food trend!
It leads to a lifestyle based on sustainability and compassion.
The three pillars of veganism are:
1. Compassion for all animals (i.e. an understanding that there is no difference between a chicken or a dog, a calf, or a cat).
2. The concern and care for environmental issues (i.e. massive land use and pollution caused by life stock farming, pesticides, antibiotics, etc.); and
3. The positive effects on health (i.e., low cholesterol, no lactose intolerance, a pure conscience, etc.).
