Costa Rica wins prize at the tourism fair ITB Berlin in Germany

For Costa Rica, the tourism fair ITB Berlin 2016 was a great success, as the country gained the prize for the best booth from Central America and the Caribbean this year.
The ITB Berlin is the world’s largest tourism fair and one of the most important network platforms for the global travel industry. This year’s 50th anniversary was held between the 9th and 13th of March in 26 halls of Messe Berlin and could record a big growth again. So, with more than 120 000 trade visitors, the biggest number of visitors since its founding 50 years ago came to visit the more than 10 000 exhibitors from more than 187 countries and regions.
Costa Rica is considered one of the pioneers in the field of sustainable tourism and presented a simulated tropical rainforest on an exhibition area of around 250m². In addition, the offered local specialties, coffee, fruits and sweets, art works, traditional music, dances and masks created a Costa Rican atmosphere, right in the middle of Germany’s capital with winter temperatures outside the halls. Led by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism, the total of 33 Costa Rican companies were able to make lots of new business contacts and to meet new potential customers. In summary, this year’s tourism fair, was a very successful event, not only for Costa Rica. So exhibitors and organizers, as well as private and trade visitors went home satisfied.
